Inside the Role

The Learning and Development team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Training Specialist to oversee the learning function for engineering technical training needs within Daimler Truck North America. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our engineering team members receive comprehensive and effective training to enhance their skills and knowledge. Additionally, they will be responsible for implementing learning and development best practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to meet our GO2030 initiatives.

Position offers a starting salary range of$74,500 - $95,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Assessment of Training Needs: Conduct thorough assessments to identify the training needs of engineering team members across various levels and disciplines.
  • Curriculum Development: Design and develop comprehensive training programs and curriculum tailored to address the specific technical skills and knowledge gaps within the engineering department.
  • Training Delivery: Facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions, workshops, and seminars for engineering team members, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and formats.
  • Training Material Development: Create and maintain training materials, including presentations, manuals, online resources, and interactive modules, to support the delivery of technical training programs.
  • Evaluation and Feedback: Implement evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of training programs and gather feedback from participants. Use data-driven insights to continuously improve training content and delivery methods.
  • Learning Technology Integration: Explore and leverage learning technologies and platforms to enhance the delivery and accessibility of engineering training programs, including e-learning platforms, virtual reality simulations, and mobile learning apps.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Report directly to the Manager of Learning and Development and collaborate closely with a dedicated learning support specialist, in conjunction with cross-functional engineering leaders, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to align training initiatives with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure that training programs comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal quality assurance guidelines.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and innovations in engineering education and training. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the training function.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and outcomes. Generate reports and analytics to track key performance indicators and demonstrate the impact of training initiatives.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating technical training programs, preferably in an engineering or technical field.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, processes, and technologies.
  • Proficiency in instructional design methodologies, adult learning theory, and learning technology tools (Articulate, Camtasia, Captivate, etc., Adobe Creative).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making and continuous improvement.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification in training and development (e.g., Certified Professional in Learning and Performance, Certified Technical Trainer).
